Kane Lafranchise Recalled from K-Wings

Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations Pat Conacher announced today that the Comets have recalled defensemen Kane Lafranchise from Utica's AHL affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings. Defenseman Nick Tuzzolino has been released from his professional tryout contract (PTO).

Lafranchise, 26, has played in just one game with the Comets and has not recorded any points. He has appeared in five games with the K-Wings and has three assists. He finished the 2013-14 season by winning a Kelly Cup Championship with the ECHL Alaska Aces. He split the regular season between the Aces and the Abbotsford Heat. With the Heat, the Edmonton-native collected 13 assists in 34 games and registered another six points (three goals, three assists) with the Aces. In the playoffs he tallied another 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 15 games.

Tuzzolino, 28, was signed to a PTO by the Comets on Wednesday and appeared in Utica's 3-0 loss to the Chicago Wolves. He will return to the ECHL Elmira Jackals where he has two assists in 10 games.
