RED DEER, AB - Brent Sutter, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club, announced today that 17-year old defenceman Austin Shmoorkoff has joined the team. Shmoorkoff was with the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In 10 games this season split between the Okotoks Oilers and the Calgary Canucks, Shmoorkoff had 4 assists and 33 minutes in penalties.
Shmoorkoff played with the Canadian Athletic Club (Edmonton) of the Alberta Midget Hockey League last season. He also got into 6 games with the Rebels in 2013-14.
