A Look Ahead: Subway Super Series & Two Road Games

The Oshawa Generals defeated the rival Peterborough Petes 6-1 on home ice, maintaining their spot at first in the Eastern Conference Cole Cassels, Mitchell Vande Sompel, Michael Dal Colle, and Kenny Appleby will play in the Subway Super Series The Generals are on the road this weekend, playing Friday in Sarnia and Saturday in Saginaw

Subway Super Series

The Subway Super Series takes place on Thursday, Nov. 13 in Peterborough and Monday, Nov. 17 in Kingston with both games taking place at 7 p.m. Four Generals players including Cole Cassels, Mitchell Vande Sompel, Michael Dal Colle, and Kenny Appleby will represent Team OHL at the tournament. Team OHL will compete against the Russian National Junior Team in Game 3 of the series in Peterborough on Thursday, Nov. 13 with Game 4 to be played in Kingston on Monday, Nov. 17. The series also includes two games in the WHL prior to both OHL games, and ends with the two games hosted by the QMJHL.

In 11 years of competition against the Russian National Junior Team, the OHL has a record of 19-2-1 in this series following a 5-2 loss in Oshawa and a 3-2 shootout loss in Sudbury last season. Friday, Nov. 14 | Sarnia Sting @ 7:05 P.M.

On Friday, the Generals will travel to Sarnia to take on the Sting for the second time this season. The first time the two teams met was on Friday, Oct. 17 on home ice at the GM Centre when the Generals upset the Sting 6-4. The Generals outshot the Sting 38-25. The Sting (6-9-1-1) are now ninth in the Western Conference. Nikita Korostelev leads the Sting in scoring with 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 17 games played. Pavel Zacha, who received third star at the first Generals vs. Sting match-up, has scored 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 17 games. Anthony DeAngelo, who was drafted 19th overall to the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2014 NHL Draft, has scored 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in only 13 games played this season. Sting goalie, Justin Fazio has played 13 of 17 games with the team this season, his goals against average is 3.93 and he has made 343 saves. Be sure to look out for all of these players at Friday's game.

Saturday, Nov. 16 | Saginaw Spirit @ 7:11 P.M.

Saturday is another road game for the Generals, this time across the border in Saginaw. The Spirit (9-8-1-0) are currently seventh in the Western Conference. The last time the Generals met the Spirit was on Friday, Oct. 24 at the GM Centre. Jeremy Brodeur had his first start on home ice and the Generals defeated the Spirit 8-5, outshooting them 44-34. Dylan Sadowy, a left-winger, drafted 81st overall to the San Jose Sharks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft currently leads the team in scoring with 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 18 games played. Right-winger, Nick Moutrey follows closely behind with 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 17 games played. Jimmy Lodge, playing his fourth season with the Spirit, selected 84th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, is third in points with 16 points (10 goals, six assists) in 16 games played. Goaltender, Jake Paterson, in his fifth season with the Spirit has played 10 games this season, making 333 saves with a goals against average of 3.29.

Your Oshawa Generals (14-2-1-0) are certainly keeping fans excited and entertained with their stellar performance this season. The Generals currently have the number one penalty kill in the league along with the number one power play. Goaltender, Kenny Appleby continues to carry the league's best goals against average. Centre, Cole Cassels, drafted 85th overall to the Vancouver Canucks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft remains first in scoring for the team with 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists) in 17 games played. New York Islanders draftee, Michael Dal Colle has scored 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in his 13 games played with the Generals this season. CHL Import Draft, Tobias Lindberg, drafted in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, is third in scoring with 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 17 games played. Hunter Smith, drafted 54th overall to the Calgary Flames in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and defensemen, Mitchell Vande Sompel have both put up 20 points respectively this season.
