Springfield Jr. Blues News Release

Earning two wins out of three games against the offensively-oriented Soo Eagles isn't a bad way for the Springfield Jr. Blues to kick off November.

Springfield defeated the Soo Eagles in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Thursday night, 4-1, losing 6-4 on Friday, and took care of the Eagles 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday.

The two wins got the Jr. Blues to a record of 8-10-0 on the year. They're now in a four-way tie with Johnstown, Keystone and Michigan for 3rd place in the North Division. The Blues have now won four of their last five games.

The Jr. Blues jumped out to a 4-0 lead on Thursday. Goalie Niko Dellamaggoire was solid in net for Springfield, and his teammates played well in front of him, getting a first-period goal from Joshua Lammon, a second-period tally by Anthony Scarsella, and third-period goals from Michael Crowley and Nikita Prishivalko.

The Jr. Blues, struggling to hold a lead, found themselves on the other end of a comeback, scoring three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 4-3 lead from Scarsella, Jason Dhooghe and Brian Rigali. The Eagles responded with a three-goal barrage in the third period to win Friday night. Dellamaggoire stopped 51 of 57 Eagle shots.

On Saturday night, the Jr. Blues were able to pull off the win despite a 3rd period comeback by the Eagles. Joshua Lammon's power play goal made it 3-1 Springfield in the second period. Trevor Stone made it 4-1 less than three minutes later. However Soo's 3rd period comeback was topped off with the tying goal coming with less than two minutes left.Defensemen carried the Jr. Blues in the shootout, as Scarsella and Lester Lancaster both scored. Dryden McKay surrendered a goal to Keegan Miller before saying "no" to four shooters to preserve the win, including jamming Chase Matson on the glove side for the final Soo attempt.
