Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown Phantoms held their annual "Pink in the Rink" for Cancer Awareness Game back on November 1st, and partnered with the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center (JACBCC) to help raise awareness about the disease. The Phantoms donated all proceeds from a special jersey auction, the 50/50 ticket raffle, as well as a portion of all ticket sales to the JACBCC. Overall, the Phantoms raised $3,104.38 for the Center.

"The Phantoms organization is thrilled with the success of the fund raising efforts for our Pink in the Rink night to benefit the JABCC," remarked Phantoms Co-Owner Troy Loney. "Our special thanks go out to all the dedicated fans who supported this event. We believe our games at the Covelli Centre are an excellent place where the Youngstown community can come together in one place to show their support for local causes."

There were many special events during the game, including a ceremonial puck drop by Dr. Abdu, a carnation toss onto the ice following the Phantoms' first goal, different displays around the concourse, and a special recognition dedicated to all people who have been affected by cancer in any way.

Following the game against the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Ryan Lomberg, Kyle Connor and Max Letunov had their jerseys auctioned off live, with Connor's earning the top bid of $320.00.

"This was the second year we've done this, and it was better than the first." said Development Officer, Gina Marinelli. "We are very grateful to Jaime [Schnarrs], the management, coaching staff, players and the entire organization for all they have done for the Joanie Abdu Center. It is great to see a local team supporting the community and the businesses in it."

This was the first of four benefit nights for the Phantoms this season. The other three, including Military Appreciation Night on December 6th, Faith, Family and Friends Night on January 10th, and "Crowd the Covelli" Night on January 31st, will also benefit and support local charities and organizations.

Tickets are on sale for all Phantoms home games at the Covelli Centre starting at the low price of $10.75 for single game tickets. The Phantoms also offer group ticket packages, and a special McDonald's Family and Friends deal, where you will receive four tickets, four hats, and four medium extra value meals for the low price of $39.99.
