Springfield 4 @ Soo 1 - In the first game of a three-game weekend set, the Springfield Jr. Blues defeated the Soo Eagles 4-1 behind 29 saves from Niko Dellamaggorie and multi-point nights from Josh Lammon and Lester Lancaster.
The Jr. Blues jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st period as Josh Lammon got loose down the left side and slipped a shot over the shoulder of Eagles goaltender Jack Berry for a 1-0 lead.
The Jr. Blues took a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd period as a nice individual effort by Joey Lupo in the Eagles zone got the puck in the high slot to Anthony Scarsella, who one-timed a slapshot past Berry for his first career NAHL goal.
In the 3rd period, again the Jr. Blues would strike for another early goal as on the power play former Soo Eagle Michael Crowley put home a rebound after a drive to the net by Josh Lammon. Five minutes later the Jr. Blues increased the lead to 4-0 as Nikita Prishyvalko snuck down the left side and fired a shot low to the glove side of Berry, who got a glove on the shot, but saw it trickle behind him for a four-goal Jr. Blues advantage. The Eagles got on the board snapping Dellamaggorie's shutout bid as a rebound was collected by Keegan Miller, who slid the puck behind a sprawled out Dellamaggorie.
Berry made 27 saves in the loss. Jr. Blues defenseman Lester Lancaster picked up two assists in the win. The two teams play again Friday and Saturday.
