Thunder Make Small Improvements with Loss to RoughRiders

Bloomington,IL- The Bloomington Thunder took on the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for their first'Super Hero' Sunday after a close loss to the Dubuque Fighting Saints Saturdaynight. Bloomington held off Cedar Rapids, but couldn't stop the RoughRidersfrom charging to another win. They remain undefeated on the road. The Thunderfell short with a final score of 1-3.

The match up went scoreless until the RoughRidersput up a point on the board in the second period. Defenseman Mitch Reinke (Michigan Tech University)slipped the puck past Thunder goalie LoganHalladay (University of Minnesota) with an assist from Charlie Curti (Yale University). Cedar Rapids exited the periodwith a one point advantage over Bloomington.

In the last period, the RoughRiders widened the gap.Jiri Fronk picked up the gamewinning goal with an assist from AndrewOglevie (University of Notre Dame) at the 8:57 mark. Then, with an open netat 1:09, Cal Burke (University of NotreDame) scored the third and final goal for Cedar Rapids.

With eleven seconds left in the final period, the Thundermade it on the scoreboard. Logan Lambdinpicked up a power play goal assisted by JakeSlaker. Goalie Ben Blacker (WesternMichigan University) took home the win, putting up a 96.7 SVPT over thenight. Halladay took the loss for Bloomington, making 21 saves on 23 shots.

Despite the loss, the Thunder are continuing toimprove their special teams. They posted zero PIMS, keeping the RoughRiders offtheir power play, and raised their power play percentage to 15.4%.

Next home game: TheThunder hit the road to Michigan on the 14th and 15th, but returnhome for a two game set with the Youngstown Phantoms on November 21st and 22nd.Puck drop for both games is 7:00 pm.
