Albany Devils News Release
BRIDGEPORT, CT -- The Albany Devils fought back from behind twice to force overtime, but fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the shootout, 4-3, Sunday at Webster Bank Arena. The Devils, now 6-3-1-2, will head back to Albany with a point after a two-game series with Northeast Division rival Bridgeport this weekend.
The Sound Tigers Alan Quine netted the winner in the bottom of the fifth round.
During regulation, Mike Sislo, Graham Black and Stefan Matteau each had multi-point games and Scott Clemmensen made 31 saves on 34 shots faced.
The Sound Tigers started off the scoring at 6:02 of the first. Scooter Vaughan picked up a loose puck off a blocked shot for a breakaway and beat Clemmensen with a shot from the hash marks. Sislo scored late in second period to tie the game, 1-1. With 25 seconds to go on the man-advantage, Sislo found a centering pass from Matteau and beat Kevin Poulin with a one-timer for his sixth of the season at 19:42. Black picked up the second helper.
The game went back and fourth in the third period. Tim Sestito tipped in Scott Timmins' shot at 1:24 for the Devils first lead of the weekend to make it 2-1. A bad bounce in the crease after a sharp-angled shot by Bridgeport's Quine tied the game, 2-2 at 7:12. Bridgeport found themselves ahead 3:35 later after Harry Zolnierczyk's shot from the high slot beat Clemmensen. Black tied the game, 3-3, after jamming in a rebound for his third of the season.
All three of the Devils goals came on the man-advantage. Albany went 3-6 on the power play and 4-5 on the penalty kill.
