St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps completed their six-game road trip with a 4-1 loss to the Providence Bruins Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Brian Ferlin with two, Rob Flick and Anthony Camara scored for the Bruins, while Ben Chiarot replied for the IceCaps who saw their winless streak grow to seven games (0-6-0-1).
Flick opened scoring at 18:31 of the first period, capitalizing on an IceCap centre-ice turnover and converting a two-on-one past St. John's netminder Connor Hellebuyck.
Chiarot squared the contest on the powerplay, at 15:45 of the second, depositing the puck past Jeremy Smith after a mad scramble in front of the Bruins net. Scott Kosmachuk and Will O'Neill were awarded assists. However, Ferlin regained the Bruins lead on a rebound less than a minute later. Camara extended the Bruins margin at 1:41 of the third, banging home a rebound after a pretty dash by Alexander Khokhlachev. Ferlin sealed the win at 16:33 of the final frame with the second of the night, on the powerplay.
The IceCaps return home to host the Hamilton Bulldogs Thursday night (7:30 PM NDT). Catch all the action with broadcaster Brian Rogers at www.stjohnicecaps.com and 930AM, or watch live on AHL Live.
