November 9, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves increased their roster to 22 players on Saturday night by inking Brook Hiddink to an OHL card. Hiddink, 18, is a right-shot forward that was drafted in the first round of the 2012 OHL Draft by the Niagara IceDogs - 21st overall. Hiddink has played in 96 OHL games.

The St. Thomas native plays centre or wing and stands 5'10" and weighs-in at 200 lbs. Hiddink made his Sudbury Wolves debut on Saturday night and contributed to the Wolves' come-from-behind 7-6 victory over the Belleville Bulls. Hiddink scored the first goal of the game for the Wolves and the his first goal of the season. Hiddink was especially sharp on face-offs where the skilled forward won nine consecutive face-offs and created some good scoring opportunities for his linemates.

"Brook was looking for a second chance to play in the OHL and we are pleased to provide him with that opportunity here in Sudbury" notes Wolves' GM Blaine Smith. "We had Brook highly-rated in the 2012 draft and we believe that he is coming into his own right now as an OHL player. We know that Brook will contribute to our team offence and he has dedicated himself to helping the Sudbury Wolves be a better team the rest of the way."

The Wolves were looking for a right-shot centre to help fill a void and they were fortunate to land the former 1st rounder as a free agent. The timing was good as well as the Wolves lost two forwards to injury mid-way through Saturday's game as veterans Brody Silk and David Zeppieri left the game with injuries.

Hiddink played 45 games in the OHL last season and scored 2 goals and added 18 assists for 20 points and 16 minutes in penalties with Niagara and Plymouth. In his rookie OHL season, Hiddink played in 51 games and recorded 7 points including four goals with the IceDogs.

Hiddink and the Wolves will now begin a four-game road swing beginning Friday night in Mississauga. They will play in Sarnia on Saturday, in Kitchener on Sunday and in North Bay the following Thursday. The Wolves return home on Friday, November 21st for a tilt with the first place Battalion. Game time is 7:30.
