Vancouver Giants News Release
The Kelowna Rockets scored all five of their goals in the second period, blanking the Vancouver Giants 5-0 at Prospera Place on Saturday night. Tyrell Goulbourne had a hat-trick for Kelowna while Michael Herringer made 29 saves for the shutout.
The two teams played an evenly matched first period with both goaltenders making highlight reel stops. Vancouver goalie Payton Lee robbed Nick Merkley from the right circle before also stopping Rourke Chartier from in close while Herringer made a fantastic save on Joel Hamilton.
The Rockets blew the game wide open early in the second when Goulbourne netted his first of the night just 16 seconds into the stanza and Chartier found the net just 20 seconds later. Goulbourne added two more before the period was out and Justin Kirkland scored on a breakaway, moments after stepping out of the penalty box.
Neither side scored in the third period as the Giants fell to 7-11-0-0 on the season.
Vancouver returns to action on Wednesday, November 12th when they host the Tri-City Americans at the Pacific Coliseum. For tickets, visit VancouverGiants.com or call 604-4-GIANTS (604-444-2687).
