Rapid City Rush News Release

(RAPID CITY, SD) - In an emotional night for the Rush organization, the Rapid City Rush and the Wichita Thunder clashed at INTRUST Bank Arena Friday night. Coaching for the 400th time in the regular season for the Rush was Joe Ferras, who celebrated his milestone with a major road victory in Wichita. Behind a 3-goal third period after even back-and-forth play, Danny Battochio would earn his second shutout, and give the Rush a 3-0 win over former Rush goaltender Tim Boron.

It took 41:50 of play, but eventually the Rush would end the scoreless deadlock. In his first game back off of injured reserve, Justin Faryna would score on his old goaltender, Tim Boron, on a wrap around behind the net to give the Rush a 1-0 lead just 1:50 into the final period. Seemingly from there, the flood gates opened for the Rush as they started to insure their victory. Following Faryna's first tally of the year was Landon Oslanski for his second, scoring on a great give-and-go play with Jesse Schultz to extend the Rush lead to 2-0 with under 10 minutes to play in the game. Exactly 23 seconds later, Kyle Stroh would score his team-leading fifth goal of the season to give the Rush a 3-0 lead on assists from Scott Brannon and Dylan Clarke. Danny Battochio would remain perfect and keep the score 3-0 until the final buzzer, earning his second shutout of the season.

In just his sixth start, Danny Battochio earns his fourth win and his second shutout of the season, improving to a 4-1-1 record. Rush Head coach Joe Ferras picks up the win, coaching in his 400th game as the head coach of the Rush organization. Dylan Clarke notched his sixth point of the month of November with another multi-point outing, this time recording 2 assists in the win. The Rush power play's scoring streak ends at four games, but the penalty kill fought off all four Thunder power plays faced, three of which came to them in the middle frame. Continuing their road trip, the Rush now travel to Missouri to take on the Mavericks in their home-opener at the Independence Event Center tomorrow night, with puck drop scheduled for 6:05 MST.
