Rockets Close Trip with 5-3 Victory at Vancouver

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-3 on Sunday in Vancouver, finishing a three game road trip and collecting five out of a possible six points.

Rourke Chartier had two goals and one assist, including his WHL leading 13th and 14th goals of the season as the Rockets improved to 14-1-1-0 on the season.

Nick Merkley had a goal and an assist in the win, while Jesse Lees scored the winning goal in the third period, one of three goals in the third as the Rockets put a stranglehold on the game.

Michael Herringer, an affiliate goaltender playing his first game with the Rockets, earned the win in net. The Rockets outshot Vancouver 31- 19 in the game.

Tomas Soustal also scored for the Rockets while captain Madison Bowey had two assists in the win.

The win came on the heels of two games for the Rockets in Portland, a 5-0 win last Thursday before a 3-2 overtime loss on Saturday.

The Rockets return home this week for three games in four nights as they kick off the week on Wednesday, hosting BC Division rival Victoria on Hat Trick Wednesday ($19.99 for ticket, hot dog and pop).

Kelowna will host Spokane on Friday and Vancouver on Saturday at Prospera Place.
