Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals surrendered two third period goals in a 5-4 overtime defeat to the Tri-City Americans on Sunday afternoon at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Victoria and Tri-City skated into the third period tied 2-2 before Brandon Magee scored two goals to put the Royals up 4-2. Americans' Forwards Vladislav Lukin and Seymon Krasheninnikov notched two markers to force overtime. Jackson Playfair scored the game-winner for Tri-City.
The Royals' other tallies came from Travis Brown and Joe Hicketts. With two goals and an assist, Magee has recorded at least a point in all six games (3g-8a) he has played in this season. Axel Blomqvist registered three assists to put his point streak (6g-7a) to seven games.
Victoria's netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 24 of 29 shots he faced, while goaltender Eric Comrie turned away 23 of 27 shots for Tri-City.
The Royals went 1/1 100% with the extra attacker, while the Americans went 1/6 16.6%.
The Victoria Royals will begin a five game road trip starting in Kelowna on Wednesday, November 5th at Prospera Place against the Rockets. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. The Royals will then face the Prince George Cougars for a two game set on Friday, November 7th and Saturday, November 8th.
