Wolves Reel off Five Unanswered Goals for Win

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves shrugged off an early Milwaukee goal and rolled to a 5-1 victory Saturday night in an Amtrak Rivalry contest at Allstate Arena.
Forward Jeremy Welsh notched two goals while defenseman Petteri Lindbohm and forwards Yannick Veilleux and Shane Harper added markers for the Wolves (5-1-2-0). Goaltender Jordan Binnington stopped 18 shots to earn his first win of the season.
"We came out a little flat the first 4-5 minutes," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "Lindbohm's goal picked us up. Then we were really solid. I think it was a good team win. Everybody was doing their part. I don't think there were any weak sisters out there."
Milwaukee (6-2-0-0) opened the scoring at 3:02 of the first period on center Mark Van Guilder's goal. Defenseman Anthony Bitetto flung the puck from the defensive zone off the end boards and it ricocheted straight to the speeding Van Guilder. Binnington (1-1-1) got his glove on Van Guilder's quick shot, but not enough to stop it from trickling across the goal line.
The Wolves evened the score at 12:58 when Lindbohm whizzed a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that sneaked through two Admirals and Wolves forward Rob Bordson into the net.
Chicago took a 2-1 lead at 16:03 of the first when Veilleux knocked down Jake Chelios' pass from the right point, wheeled toward his forehand in the slot, and wristed the puck past goaltender Marek Mazanec's stick.
The Wolves pushed their advantage to 3-1 just 38 seconds into the second period when Welsh redirected Chelios' shot from the blue line past Mazanec. Chelios and Sebastian Wannstrom earned their second assists of the night.
Chicago added an insurance goal with 4:26 to play when Harper came out of a four-player pack with the puck and skated down the slot to fire home a power-play goal. Welsh contributed an empty-net goal with one second left to wrap up the game.
Mazanec (5-2-0) finished with 21 saves in the loss.
