New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans VooDoo have been assigned offensive lineman Brandon Heath, while recently assigned defensive lineman Jerome Raymond has been placed on other league exempt, announced the VooDoo front office Saturday morning.

Heath (6-5, 310 Delaware) enters his rookie season in the Arena Football League after ranking among the CAA's top centers as a three-year letterwinner. The Blue Hen finished his collegiate career having played in 48 games with 37 starts, including 34 consecutive games as part of the opening lineup. Heath helped the Blue Hens rank No. 2 in the CAA in scoring (32.8 points per game), No. 3 in the CAA in passing offense (240.0 yards per game), passing efficiency (143.84), and sacks allowed (1.50), and No. 4 in rushing (177.0) and third down conversions (41.4 percent). Heath most recently spent time in Rookie Mini Camp with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. Heath is a native of West Chester, Pa.

"Brandon came highly recommended by a veteran NFL scout," said VooDoo Head Coach Cokinos. "He is a versatile, big man who can play all three spots on the OL, which is vital in the Arena game.

Brandon is a quality player, and we are excited about him joining our team."

Raymond (6-5, 285, Morehead) is the second VooDoo player, behind defensive back Charles Clay, to go to the Canadian Football League in just two weeks. Raymond will join the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.

"Jerome is a quality athlete, we knew when we signed him that he would get looks elsewhere," said Head Coach Cokinos. "It is a good opportunity for him. With the level of players that we are signing in New Orleans, we expect to lose a few to the NFL and CFL."
