Evansville IceMen News Release

INDIANAPOLIS-After rallying from two goals down, the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, came away with a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Indy Fuel. On Halloween night, 2,559 fans at the Fairgrounds Coliseum watched the IceMen fall from the ranks of the unbeaten to a 2-0-0-1 record (5 points).

Myles Bell made an impact for Evansville. The Calgary native scored two goals, had an assist, and a shootout goal in his second game with the IceMen. This effort earned Bell second star honors

The IceMen got on the board first as Bell scored his first professional goal. Bell stole the puck and skated in on a 2-1 breakaway. After a give and go with Kale Kerbashian, Bell scored on the backhand to give the IceMen a 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game.

With Evansville on a power play, the Fuel found a two-on-two chance. Patrick Cullen found Matt White in front of the net. White put it home short handed to tie the game at one.

Just 1:30 later White scored again as he pounced on a rebound that stayed in the crease area after Chris Driedger had made the save on a Brett Perlini shot. White's second of the night and season gave the Fuel a 2-1 lead.

In the second period, the Fuel added to their lead. On a power play, Mike Duco deflected a Mathieu Brisebois shot into the net to give the Fuel a 3-1 advantage.

The IceMen answered 10 minutes later with a power play goal of their own. Bell blasted a shot that snuck under the cross bar and cut the Fuel lead to 3-2. Troy Rutkowski and Matt Lowry added the assists on Bell's second of the night.

As time ticked away in the third, the IceMen attacked again. Bell poked the puck free to Kale Kerbashian who roofed a slap shot past Cody Reichard to knot the game up at three.

Neither team could score again in regulation, so the game went to overtime. After a scoreless extra frame, the battle would be decided in a shootout.

Driedger and Reichard both turned away the first man they faced. Perlini gave the Fuel their first tally in the shootout. Brandon Wong quickly answered by going out wide and then firing one past Reichard.

The Fuel rattled off two unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead in the shootout, Needing a goal to stay alive, the IceMen sent Bell out to the center line to take the shot. Bell skated in and deked his way to a backhand goal to cut the Fuel lead to 3-2.

However, the excitement for the IceMen was short lived. Jamie Wise, the Fuel's next skater, scored to wrap up a 4-3 win for Indy.

Driedger took the loss in his first start with the IceMen. He stopped 26 of 28 shots on the night.

Both teams will return to Evansville as the IceMen wrap up their game series with the Fuel tomorrow night. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
