Thunder Spooked by Gamblers on Halloween Night

Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Thunder were unsuccessful inbreaking their two game losing streak from their back to back games inYoungstown last weekend. The Thunder couldn't overcome the Green Bay Gambler'slead at their first annual 'Fright Night' and took the loss with a final scoreof 4-1.

Green Bay forward Brian Bowen (University of Vermont) slotted his first goal of theseason and the first goal of the night with the assist by Joe Wegwerth (University of Notre Dame, Florida Panthers) at 2:52into the first period. The Gamblerspicked up three more goals in the second. MathewDawson scored early in the period grabbing the first Gambler's power play goalof the year with an assist from Wegwerth, picking up the game wining goal andmarking his first goal of the season. The newly acquired Ryan Tait (Providence College) slid the puck by goalie Logan Halladay (University of Minnesota),his first goal with the Gamblers and of the season. Halladay traded posts with David Jacobson 11:51 into the period,he exited with 16 saves of 19 shots. AnthonyWalsh (Yale University) finished off the second period, tallying his firstgoal of the season for the Gamblers just :04 seconds into the man advantage. Tempersfaired at the end of the second as the Thunder seemed to gain some tenacity intheir game. At 18:31 of the third 36 PIMS were handed out to each side. Theperiod eventually ended with a shutout bid of 4-0 favoring Green Bay.

The Thunder found their pace in the third period,picking up their only goal of the night. MattMendelson (Penn State University) racked up his third goal of the seasonwith the assist by Tarek Baker(University of Minnesota) at 8:34 into the final period. Bloomington playeda strong offensive period, but the time ran out before they could recover fromthe Gambler's three point lead. KevinReich finished the game with 42 saves on 43 shots and the win.

The Thunder will be visiting the Youngstown PhantomsWednesday, November 5th for a 10:15 am EST (9:15 am CST) game at theCovelli Centre in Youngstown, OH. Bloomington will return to the U.S. CellularColiseum Friday, November 8th to face the Dubuque Fighting Saints.The Thunder will be handing out their second poster in the seven part series tothe first 500 fans in the building.
