REDBLACKS Celebrate Most Outstanding Fans: 9th Sell-Out

October 31, 2014 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Ottawa RedBlacks News Release

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa REDBLACKS saluted the team's fans on Fan Appreciation Night at TD Place on Halloween, as another sold-out crowd of over 24,000 packed the stadium to watch the team play the final home game of its inaugural Canadian Football League season.

The packed park for Friday's game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats marked the ninth straight sold out game for the REDBLACKS this season. Over 216,000 loyal REDBLACKS faithful witnessed the team play at TD Place over the course of nine home games; the first on July 18, a first-ever victory for the franchise over the Toronto Argonauts

"Without a doubt, we have some of the most outstanding fans in the CFL and the entire organization thanks them from the bottom of our hearts," said Jeff Hunt, President of OSEG Sports, the REDBLACKS parent company. "My partners and I are humbled by the response our great fans have provided the entire season and we appreciate how much they've supported the team on the field and our team in the front office and at TD Place."

"We're committed to the creation of an exceptional guest experience every time they attend an event at TD Place, whether it's a CFL game, a Fury FC match, a 67's game or a concert. The fans have been there for us, and we promise to be there for our fans."

Over 17,000 season-ticket holders responded to a call to support the return of the CFL to Ottawa.

"We know that the fans have had a great time this season and we are encouraged by the foundation that is being developed with our teams of the future," Hunt said. "We expect excellence from everybody in our organization and we are already encouraged about how the team is shaping up for next season.

"We're looking forward to greeting our fans next season and in the years to come."

While the CFL and NASL action won't return to TD Place until 2015, there is plenty more taking place in The Arena at TD Place in the months ahead.

An improved Ottawa 67's team is back at Lansdowne in the team's familiar digs at the arena formerly known as the Civic Centre and concerts by The Jim Cuddy Band and Volbeat/Anthrax have recently been announced.

In addition, a mega stadium concert by the British pop group One Direction will take place on September 10, 2015.

More announcements are expected in the months ahead for TD Place, Ottawa's new downtown entertainment destination at the new Lansdowne.
