North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC (October 31, 2014) - The Carolina RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park this Saturday for Fan Appreciation Night to take on Minnesota United FC in the final game of the 2014 NASL Regular Season. Prior to the game, the RailHawks will be hosting its 3rd Annual pre-game Soktoberfest festival. Saturday's match-up is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30pm and will be featured as the NASL Match of the Week on ESPN3. Saturday's match will also be LIVE on WRAL2, web streamed online at NASLlive.com and available on the radio at 99.9HD-3 The Ticket.

The RailHawks are coming into Saturday's match after earning three valuable points on the road after defeating the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-0. Goals by Devon Sandoval and Nacho Novo along with a tremendous penalty kick save by Scott Goodwin secured the win for the RailHawks.

The current Spring Season Champions, Minnesota United FC, are coming off a disappointing loss at home to the hands of the San Antonio Scorpions. The Scorpions lone goal came from former RailHawks midfielder Cesar Elizondo.

Heading into the last game of the Regular Season, the RailHawks are still fighting for the last spot in The Championship. A win against Minnesota and a loss or a tie by the Fort Lauderdale Strikers will send the RailHawks to The Championship Semifinals next Saturday in Minnesota against Minnesota United.

RailHawks Notes:

Scott Goodwin and Nacho Novo Team of the Week

The NASL Team of the Week is selected each weekend and features the best XI players in their respective positions. Last Saturday in Atlanta the RailHawks beat the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-0. Scott Goodwin had five key saves including a penalty kick in the shutout victory over Atlanta and Nacho Novo scored for a second consecutive week.

Coach's Quote

"This is going to be another big game for us at home. We are disappointed that we are not in control of our own destiny, but that is not going to kept us from going out there and putting on a good performance on the field. We've worked hard this week and I am sure that we are going to get the result we are looking for. Minnesota has been the best team in the league throughout the two seasons, but we're looking to finish off our season on a positive note and beat them at home." - Colin Clarke

How Can the RailHawks Clinch a spot in the Championship?

IF CAR wins 5-1 and FTL ties 0-0 1-1 or 2-2 or 3-3; the RailHawks will be #4 seed

IF CAR wins 4-0 and FTL ties 3-3, (CAR - FTL tied for Goal Diff; Head-to Head); FTL will be the 4 seed based on away goal Dif. (The Strikers have -8; The RailHawks have -14)
