Sky Blue FC News Release

Morristown, N.J. (Friday, October 31, 2014) - Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) officially announced on Friday that it has re-signed defender Lindsi Cutshall, who has played with the team for the past two seasons since making her the 4th overall selection in the 2013 NWSL College Draft. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Lindsi has slowly adjusted to the NWSL and had an up-and-down first two seasons," Sky Blue FC technical director and head coach Jim Gabarra stated. "We have seen glimpses of her potential at center back, as well as her contribution defensively and in attack."

Gabarra also noted that Cutshall is entering a stage in her career where players tend to truly find their place at the professional level.

"All players take a full season to adjust to the level of play in the NWSL, and Lindsi has reached that point," he remarked. "Our expectations are for her to have a breakout season in 2015."

Cutshall, 24-years-old, made eight appearances for Sky Blue FC in 2013 before starting 11 of the 14 matches she played this past season. She made an immediate impact on the offensive end of the field in 2014, netting three goals on just five total shot attempts.

Collegiately, the Utah native was a MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist following her senior season at Brigham Young University, registering three goals and a pair of assists despite the fact that she started on the back line for the Cougars. She also led a BYU side that allowed a mere 13 goals in 2012. Cutshall was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year for her efforts that season, also being selected to the NSCAA All-America Team. During her four-year college campaign, the hard-nosed defender totaled 32 points on 13 goals and six assists.

Cutshall has also played at virtually every level of the U.S. Women's National Team development program, beginning with its U-16 side in 2006. She then progressed through the U-17, U-18 and U-20 teams before being named to the U-23 Player Pool in 2013.
