Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Hitmen Fight Cancer jersey auction closes tonight, Thursday, Oct. 30, at 9:00 p.m. MT. Fans can bid on game-worn jerseys from forward Jake Virtanen and defenceman Travis Sanheim by visiting www.elevateauctions.com/hitmenfightcancer2015. Both Calgary Hitmen players were selected in first round of the 2014 NHL Draft; Virtanen, sixth overall, by the Vancouver Canucks and Sanheim, 17th overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers. In addition, an autographed 20th anniversary jersey from the namesake of the franchise, Bret "Hitman" Hart is being auctioned online.
Any bids received in the last five minutes of the auction will reset the bidding and that item will remain open for an additional five minutes. This will continue every five minutes until the item closes and no additional bids are received.
Launched earlier this month with community partner Canada Diagnostic Centres, the sixth annual Hitmen Fight Cancer campaign is raising funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Prairies/NWT Region. In the previous five years, the Calgary Hitmen, with the support of their partners, players, staff and fans, have raised over $80,850 through the club's Hitmen Fight Cancer initiatives.
