Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired 2014 Buffalo Bisons All-Star RHP LIAM HENDRIKS in a trade with the Kansas City Royals in exchange for C Santiago Nessy.
HENDRIKS, 25, pitched in 18 games for the Bisons in 2014 and was 8-1 with a 2.33 ERA and a team-high 91 strikeouts. An International League midseason All-Star, Hendriks started, earned the victory and was named IL's "Star of Stars" in the IL's 7-3 victory over the Pacific Coast League in the Triple-A All-Star Game (Durham, NC). Traded by the Blue Jays to Kansas City on July 28, Hendriks fell 6.2 innings shy of his 2.33 ERA and 0.91 WHIP from qualifying as the league's best.
Hendriks also led the Bisons with 108.1 innings pitched in 2014. He did not walk a batter over his first 28.1 innings of the season and did not allow more than one walk in any outing while with the Bisons (only seven walks while with the Herd). Hendriks was recalled twice by the Blue Jays, posting a 1-0 record and a 6.00 ERA in three starts for Toronto (13.1 IP, 12 H, 8 SO).
