Kitchener Rangers News Release

Doug Blaisdell scored his first of the season and added an assist in the Kitchener Rangers 6-2 win over the Ottawa 67's on Sunday night. Brandon Robinson, Connor Bunnaman, Mason Kohn and Gustaf Franzen also recorded two point nights, and Dawson Carty picked up his second consecutive win in his first start at The Aud.

Captain Travis Konecny put his team on the board first, picking up Alex Lintuniemi's pass from the blueline and lifting a shot past Rangers' starter Dawson Carty. The power play marker was the second goal of the season for the sophomore winger. Jonathan Duchesne also picked up an assist on the goal at 14:28.

With 62 seconds left before the intermission, the Rangers pulled even at 1-1. After holding the puck in the offensive zone, Brandon Robinson moved the puck towards the 67's net. Rookie Connor Bunnaman corralled it with his skate and slid a shot behind Leo Lazarev to pot his second goal of the season. The second assist was credited to import rearguard Dmitrii Sergeev; it was the fourth game in a row that both Robinson and Sergeev recorded at least one point.

The Rangers led shots on goal 14-8 in the first period.

Darby Llewellyn lifted the Rangers to their first lead of the night early in the middle frame, chipping a shot past Lazarev for his fourth goal of the season and second in his last three outings. Veteran centre Curtis Meighan and sophomore Mason Kohn picked up the helpers on the marker, which put Kitchener in front 2-1.

Justin Bailey added to the Rangers lead just past the midway point, picking up Dylan Di Perna's pass near the blueline and firing a shot into the top corner of the net. The Buffalo Sabres prospect leads Kitchener with nine goals on the season. The helper was Di Perna's first point of 2014-15.

The 67's cut into the deficit less than two minutes later, when team scoring leader Dante Salituro jumped on a rebound in front of the net and beat Carty with a sharp angle shot. The power play tally was the veteran forward's 12th goal of the year, with assists from Erik Bradford and Konecny.

The Rangers responded on the man advantage after Ottawa centre Sam Studnicka was issued a match penalty for slew footing. On the ensuing power play, veteran winger Brandon Robinson jumped on a rebound and snuck it by Lazarev's right pad to pick up his second goal in three games. Import rookie Gustaf Franzen and rearguard Max Iafrate each collected a helper on the play.

Defenceman Doug Blaisdell's first goal of the season pushed Kitchener to a three goal lead with less than a minute remaining in the period. The American sophomore snapped a long shot from the faceoff circle high over the glove of Lazarev, putting the Rangers on top 5-2. Kohn and Bunnaman each earned their second point of the night with assists on the goal.

The Rangers continued to lead shots on goal by a 12-7 margin in the second period.

Kitchener added one more goal in the third period, taking advantage of a 5-on-3 power play opportunity. Nick Magyar's pass from the boards found Franzen alone in front of the Ottawa crease. The Swedish forward brushed the puck by Lazarev to record his second goal in as many nights. Blaisdell also earned an assist on Franzen's third of the season.

Kitchener led shots on goal 12-10 in the final frame, finishing with a 38-25 overall advantage. Carty made 23 saves to pick up his second consecutive win
