Silvertips Sink T-Birds in Overtime

EVERETT - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime Saturday night at Xfinity Arena in Everett.

Everett (8-1-2-1) scored 41 seconds into overtime just as a T-Birds penalty expired. Ivan Nikolishin scored from the right circle on assists from Nikita Scherbak and Kevin Davis.

Seattle goalie Taran Kozun had 28 saves on 30 shots and his record is now 5-3-1-1.

Seattle (5-5-2-1) took a 1-0 lead just under five minute into the game. Nolan Volcan passed the puck to Donovan Neuls who carried it into the Everett zone on the right side. Neuls centered the puck to Eansor in the high slot. Eansor put a wrist shot past Everett goalie Austin Lotz for the first goal of the game.

Eansor extended his goal streak to three with the first goal of the game. Volcan has a three game point streak with the assist on the first goal.

Everett outshot Seattle 12-4 in the first period.

The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 10-8 in the second period and led 22-12 in shots after two periods.

Everett tied the game 1-1 on a power-play goal by Cole MacDonald at 7:01 of the third period. MacDonald took a shot from the left point with traffic in front of Seattle goalie Taran Kozun. Kohl Bauml and Davis had the assists.

The T-Birds outshot the Tips 13-8 in the third period with Everett leading in shots, 29-25, after regulation.

The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 30-25 in the game.

Lotz had 24 saves on 25 shots and his record is now 6-1-1-1.

The T-Birds next play Thursday, October 30, when they host the defending WHL and Memorial Cup Champion Edmonton Oil Kings. The game is at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.
