It was one of those games the Sarnia Sting would like to forget all about.

The Ottawa 67s came to town Saturday night and skated off with a lopsided 6-1 victory in front of 2,683 fans at the RBC Centre.

It was Ottawa's first road victory of the season after dropping six straight away from home.

Sting head coach Trevor Letowski was obviously disappointed with the team's performance.

"It was one of those games we wanted and needed. It's a home game and we now don't come back here for nearly three weeks. I thought we came ready to play. We played very well in the first period and had a 16-5 edge in shots on goal. But we couldn't score.

"We got into some penalty trouble in the second period. They got a power play goal and they were off. After that there were a lot of bad things happened and the wrong times."

He added, "It was one of those nights that wasn't meant to be. We've had a pretty good stretch of hockey lately, but this one stings, especially at home."

After a scoreless first period, Ottawa took a 2-0 advantage after 40 minutes. After thoughts of a Sting comeback ended early in period three as the 67s built up a comfortable 6-0 lead.

The lone Sting goal came with 12.3 seconds left in the game on a nice individual effort by Nikita Korostelev. It was his eighth goal of the season, tops on the team.

The goal spoiled the shutout bid of Ottawa's goalie Leo Lararev. The Russian puck stopper made 39 saves and was the game's first star. He came into the game with a 5.22 goals against average and a 0-3 record.

"He played well," said Letowski, when asked about the Ottawa goalie. "We seemed to have run into some hot goalies the past three games. In our last three games we've had 52,47 and 40 shots on goal. It's usually enough to get some points, but it didn't happen."

Sting netminder Justin Fazio faced 29 shots.

Letowski said that overager goalie Taylor Dupuis is expected to be ready to play next week. He has not played a regular season game.

Erik Bradford led Ottawa with two goals and two assists. Single goals went to Tyler Hill, Artur Tyanulin, Brendan Bell and Dante Salituro.

Sarnia's record is now 4-6-1-1 in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Sting now prepare for a five-game road trip. It begins next weekend as they play Thursday in Barrie, Friday in Sudbury and Sunday afternoon in North Bay. The following week Sarnia plays at Erie and Niagara.

Sarnia's next home game is not until Nov. 14th when they host the Oshawa Generals. They will also be home the next night against the Sudbury Wolves. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m. at the RBC Centre.

Tickets for all future Sting home games are on sale daily at the RBC Box Office, by calling 519-541-1717 or going online at Sarniasting.com
