Opening Night Kicking off with Annual Block Party

Wichita, KS (Oct. 24th) - The Wichita Thunder, powered by Toyota, open up their first season in the ECHL tomorrow night and 23rd season in the Air Capital. Today, the team announced details for the annual Block Party that will take place at INTRUST Bank Arena starting at 4 p.m. in front of Entrances A and B.

There will plenty of activity buzzing around the arena when the festivities kick off, including the West High Pioneer Drum Line and Pep Band for four separate performances at Entrance B. Also featured this year is the beer garden near Entrance A with $3 cans and a Comedy Corner, which is new this season. Four of Wichita's finest comics will perform from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be food and beverages for sale for $1 (12 Oz Pepsi products, bottled water, hot dogs, and more). Journal Broadcast Group will be on hand with a prize wheel and Money Machine.

New this season will be two street hockey 'rinks' set up to play near both entrances. Other vendors in attendance are Kansas Army National Guard, Genesis Health Clubs, Big Sky Party Rentals, Great Clips, Hiland Dairy truck and Better State Crew from State Farm. The Lightning Girls will also be on hand to meet and greet and join in the fun.

Individual tickets are on sale for the home opener against the Allen Americans on Saturday, October 25th. Don't delay!
