Lee Nguyen the Runaway Winner in Week 32's AT&T Goal of the Week Race
October 24, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New England Revolution News Release
Lee Nguyen scored the game-winner against the Houston Dynamo this past weekend, but it was the first tally in his two-goal performance that was the clear choice for the AT&T Goal of the Week.
Nguyen handily won the Week 32 award on Friday, claiming almost 49 percent of the vote for his silky smooth finish in the 65th minute of the Revolution's 2-1 road victory over the Dynamo. Nguyen blasted a shot into the top corner from 17-yards out to pull his club level at 1-1, but only after cooly sidestepping a challenge from Jermaine Taylor. He then went on to score a late winner on a rebound.
The equalizing goal, which saw Nguyen win his first AT&T Goal of the Week honors this season, was just the latest impressive moment in a season that should see the dynamic midfielder garner some MVP consideration. Nguyen has 17 goals and five assists for New England heading into the final game of the regular season on Saturday against Toronto FC (7:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE in the US, TSN2 in Canada).
AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 29 Final Results
1. Lee Nguyen (NE) - 48.75%
2. Lloyd Sam (NY) - 18.98%
3. Warren Creavalle (TOR) - 11.63%
