Bridgeport Bluefish to Host 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game

(Denver, Oct. 23, 2014) - The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced that the Bridgeport Bluefish will host the 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game, which will take place on Wednesday, July 8 at the home of the Bluefish, The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. This will be the third time that the Bluefish will present the event, with the previous mid-season games being held in 1999 and 2006.

"The Ducks would like to congratulate the Bluefish on being awarded this upcoming season's All-Star Game," said Ducks president and general manager Michael Pfaff. "We look forward to visiting Bridgeport and taking part in this special event."

The festivities will begin on Tuesday, July 7, with the All-Star Game commencing on July 8. During these two exciting days, the Bridgeport Bluefish and The Ballpark at Harbor Yard will welcome fans, players and coaches from around the Atlantic League. More details and ticket information will be announced in coming months.

"The Atlantic League is delighted the 2015 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Bridgeport Bluefish," said Atlantic League President, Rick White. "The Bluefish organization is working hard to create an extraordinary mid-summer celebration in Connecticut's 'Magic City.' Bridgeport's Ballpark at Harbor Yard is an apt showcase for Atlantic League players to display their special brand of baseball magic to Bluefish friends and followers who have supported the ball club over the years. We are excited at the prospect of a very special All-Star event next July in one of the League's premier locations."

The 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game identity was designed by Skye Design Studios (www.sdsbranding.com), a brand identity and design firm located in the greater New York City area.

"This identity was a great opportunity to celebrate the city of Bridgeport as the home of the Bluefish for nearly two decades," said Skye Dillon of Skye Design Studios. "The primary logo features the smokestacks and Amtrak train just beyond the outfield wall at Harbor Yard. In addition to both being part of the game day experience for fans, they also represent core elements of the city's industrial history. Custom lettering and ribbon work was inspired by Bridgeport native P.T. Barnum's iconic circus posters - an ideal balance of classic and fun, fitting for an All-Star Game. The mark is set within the silhouette of Connecticut as a postcard of sorts for visiting fans."

The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) is the highest level of professional baseball other than the Major Leagues. Atlantic League players are experienced professionals, having progressed through the development levels (A, AA, AAA), with over 40% of Atlantic League players having Major League service time. Since the League's inception in 1998, over 30 million fans have attended an ALPB game in one of the League's state of the art ballparks. The League plans to expand from eight to twelve teams, which will join the existing teams in the major metropolitan markets of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Houston.
