Your Oshawa Generals have started the season off strong, currently sitting at first place in the Eastern Conference, and at the top of the standings in the Ontario Hockey League. The Generals currently have four players on the list of Top 20 scorers in the OHL, including Cole Cassels (4), Tobias Lindberg (15), Hunter Smith (16), and Michael Dal Colle (18). Goaltender, Kenny Appleby is also leading the league with a goals against average of 1.67, only allowing 15 goals in nine games played. This week, Cole Cassels was named OHL Player of the Week and CHL Player of the Week, currently leading the Generals in scoring with 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists) in 11 games played.
Friday Oct. 24 | Saginaw Spirit @ 7:35 p.m.
The Saginaw Spirit will cross the border this Friday to take on the Oshawa Generals for another East-West match-up. The Spirit (4-5-1-0) are currently seventh place in the Western Conference.
Dylan Sadowy leads the Spirit in points with 13 (6 goals, 7 assists) in 10 games played. Sadowy, a 6'1" left-winger from Woodbrige, ON is in his third season with the Spirit and was selected in the third round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. Luke Cairns follows behind Sadowy with 9 points (10 goals, 3 assists) in 10 games played. Cairns, an overager with the team is currently in his sixth season with the OHL and his second season with the Spirit. Right-wingers, Jimmy Lodge and Nick Moutrey both have eight points respectively in nine games played. Lodge, in his fourth season with the Spirit was drafted to the Winnipeg Jets in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft and Moutrey, also in his fourth season with the Spirit was drafted to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft. Look out for all of these players at Friday night's game.
Friday Night Live will also take place after the game in Prospects Bar & Grill. Get your Friday night started with a beer and some live entertainment right inside the GM Centre! This is our last Friday night game until Nov. 21, so be sure to come out and enjoy all the action.
Sunday, Oct. 26 | Kingston Frontenacs @ 6:05 p.m. | Pink in the Rink
Sunday is sure to be a memorable evening as it is our First Annual Pink in the Rink night presented by Pandora Store Oshawa Centre and Oshawa Jewellery Inc. Players will be sporting commemorative jerseys with names of survivors, to be auctioned off online following the game. All proceeds will support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will have a table set up on the concourse and will be 'Passing the Bucket' so be sure to bring along any additional donations that you'd like to make to this worthy cause.
Sunday marks the first time that the Generals will meet the Kingston Frontenacs (4-3-0-1), a team currently sitting at fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Robert Polesello and Spencer Watson lead the Fronts in points with eight points respectively. Polesello, a native of Bolton, ON, in his sophomore season with the team has scored 8 points (7 goals, 4 assists) in seven games played and Watson has scored 4 goals and 4 assists. Watson, a left-winger was drafted 209th overall to the Los Angeles Kings in the 2014 NHL Draft. Kingston superstar, Sam Bennett, who was drafted fourth overall in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft is currently not playing with the team as a result of a shoulder injury. Just this week, Kingston players, Roland McKeown, Spencer Watson, and Lawson Crouse were named to Team OHL's Subway Super Series Roster.
Your Oshawa Generals haven't lost a game on home ice, and look to keep the pattern alive this weekend. Powerhouse forwards, Cassels, Lindberg, Smith, Dal Colle, Latour and Sterk have 75 combined total points so far this season. Look out for Vande Sompel, Carlisle, Desrocher, Brown, Petschenig, who are all contributing to the strong defensive core of the team.
