Prince George, B.C.-- When the Brandon Wheat Kings take to the ice Wednesday night in Prince George to kick off their annual west coast road trip against the Cougars, 20-year old Peter Quenneville will be wearing the "C" on his jersey.
The WHL club has confirmed that the Edmonton native, who is in his second season with the Wheat Kings, will become the 57th Captain in franchise history.
One of two Quenneville brothers on this year's club, the Wheat Kings acquired his playing rights from the Cougars last November. He went on to score 21 goals and 52 points in 44 games after leaving NCAA Division 1 in order to join his younger brother in Brandon.
One of two overage players on this year's team, he was chosen by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2013 National Hockey League draft.
A member of the USHL Champion Dubuque Fighting Saints in 2012-13, Quenneville enters the club's upcoming 7-game road trip with three goals and 12 points in eleven games.
The 5'11" 196 lb. right-winger replaces Ryan Pulock - who is currently playing for the New York Islanders' American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport - as team captain.
Serving as the club's alternates this season will be veterans Eric Roy, Colton Waltz and QuintinLisoway.
A former first round bantam draft choice of the Wheat Kings, Roy is in his fifth and final season of junior hockey. In five games this season, the Calgary Flames' draft choice has a goal and three points. Since joining Brandon in 2010. the Beauval, Saskatchewan product ha scored 158 points, including 44 goals in 261 games.
A 6'1" 198 lb defenceman from Vermilion, Alberta, Waltz is entering his third season with the Wheat Kings and has one goal and five points in 11 games this season. During his WHL career, the former third round bantam draft pick has six goals and 32 points in 146 games.
A former member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Steinbach Pistons, Lisoway is also in his third season with Brandon. A 19-year old Neepawa product, Lisoway has one goal and five points in eleven games this season and in 118 career games, he has scored twelve goals and 33 points.
Wednesday's game in Prince George will be the first of seven straight road games for the Wheat Kings, who are coming off back to back home ice wins last weekend.
Brandon currently leads the WHL's Eastern Division with a record of 8-2-1-0.
