The Earthquakes hit the road for the club's last game of the 2014 MLS season against Chivas USA on Sunday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m. PT on Comcast SportsNet California, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.

The Earthquakes played their final game at Buck Shaw Stadium against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, drawing 0-0 in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,525. The clean sheet was Jon Busch's sixth of the season and first since a 1-0 win on Aug. 2 against Seattle Sounders FC at Levi's Stadium. It also marked the first match with interim head coach Ian Russell on the sidelines. San Jose's best chance came in the 44th minute after Shea Salinas cut a cross on the grass to Chris Wondolowski. The lethal striker blasted a shot near-post on the run, but Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted was able to knock the ball away and end the threat. The Earthquakes played at Buck Shaw Stadium for seven years after re-joining Major League Soccer in 2008. Following Saturday's result, the club finished 50-27-36 all-time at the venue.

The San Jose Earthquakes fell 1-0 to Chivas USA at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Quakes and Chivas USA battled through a scoreless first half before Chivas broke through with a goal early in the second half. Erick Torres scored his 11th goal of the season for Chivas USA early in the second half to put his team in front. A cross from the right side from Mauro Rosales found Torres at the back post and he finished a shot to the right of goalkeeper Jon Busch in the 53rd minute. Ty Harden had a great chance for the equalizer with 10 minutes to go. After Alan Gordon earned a free kick, Jordan Stewart chipped a ball in the box for Harden. He beat his defender and headed low to the far post, but Kennedy pushed the shot wide before his defense cleared the ball out of danger.

History of the Earthquakes-Chivas USA Rivalry

The two teams met for the first time on April 9, 2005, at Spartan Stadium, playing to a wild 3-3 draw ... During the 2005 season, San Jose and Chivas USA met on three additional occasions: a 1-1 draw on June 12 at The Home Depot Center, a 3-0 win for the Earthquakes on Sept. 10 at Spartan Stadium, and a come-from-behind 2-1 Quakes victory on Sept. 17 in Carson in which Alejandro Moreno notched the 93rd-minute winner against his current club ... Following that four-game unbeaten run by San Jose to begin the all-time series between the sides, Chivas USA has held the edge since the Quakes' return in 2008, posting a 6-1-2 record over nine matches ... The Quakes' lone win during the stretch came on Oct. 20, 2010, when Chris Wondolowski posted a hat trick over 17 minutes after only coming off the bench in the 40th minute, for a 3-0 result at Buck Shaw ... Chivas USA got an 85th-minute winner from Mariano Trujillo for a come-from-behind 2-1 win in the last meeting at Buck Shaw on April 23, 2011 ... Wondolowski had given the Quakes a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, with Moreno leveling the score for the Goats in first-half stoppage time ... Chivas USA went on to sweep the 2011 season series with a 2-0 home shutout on July 6 ... MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

Kickoff Time vs. Chivas USA Rescheduled

Kickoff time for the Quakes' final match of the season has been rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. PT. The last meeting between the two clubs, which was originally scheduled for a 12 p.m. PT, will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet California. Fans can also listen on the radio at 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.

Dominic Kinnear to Return as Club's Head Coach

The Earthquakes announced Wednesday, Oct. 15 that Dominic Kinnear will return to the club as head coach at the conclusion of the 2014 MLS regular season. Kinnear returns to the club where he got his coaching career started as an assistant in 2001. He is one of four coaches in league history to win multiple MLS Cups, leading the Houston Dynamo to titles in 2006 and 2007. The Scotland native is third all-time in MLS history with 139 wins and is one of just six head coaches in league history to win 100 games. His winning ways led the Quakes to their first ever Supporters' Shield in 2005 during his first stint as the team's head coach. He also ranks third all-time in MLS Cup Playoff wins with 15 and has reached the post-season in nine of his 11 seasons as a head coach. Kinnear began his coaching career as an assistant for the Earthquakes in 2001 and helped the club to MLS Cups in 2001 and 2003. Following his successful transition to the sidelines, he was named the club's sixth head coach in 2004 and led the team to the MLS Cup Playoffs during his first season at the helm. One year later, he engineered one of the best regular seasons in MLS history with an 18-4-10 clip - still the league record for fewest losses in a season. He closed that campaign on a 14-game unbeaten streak, which ranks eighth all-time. For his efforts, Kinnear was named MLS Coach of the Year as San Jose won the Supporters' Shield.

Russell Named Interim Head Coach

Ian Russell, an assistant coach for San Jose since 2008, was named the club's interim head coach on Wednesday, Oct. 15 after Mark Watson and assistant Nick Dasovic were relieved of their duties. Goalkeeper Jason Batty will remain with the club for its final game against Chivas USA on Sunday, Oct. 26. Earthquakes academy technical director Chris Leitch will also join the staff for the final game as an assistant coach.

Quakes Draw in Last Game at Buck Shaw

The Earthquakes concluded their seven-year playing stint at Buck Shaw Stadium with a 0-0 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, Oct. 18. San Jose drew 0-0 against FC Dallas in the club's first game at the stadium on May 3, 2008. San Jose finished with a 50-27-36 all-time record at the venue, posting 153 goals and 33 shutouts.

Thompson Nets First Career Goal With Quakes

Earthquakes midfielder Tommy Thompson tallied his first career goal with San Jose in the 47th minute of the club's international friendly against C.D.S. Vida on Tuesday, Oct.14 at Buck Shaw Stadium. The goal developed from Shaun Francis who sent a cross through the box toward Thompson who slid to finish at the far post.

Busch Passes Cerritos on All-Time List

After playing 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, Oct. 18, Jon Busch passed San Jose legend Ronald Cerritos on the club's all-time games played list with 149. Both players were locked at 148 games prior to the club's last ever home game at Buck Shaw Stadium Saturday, Oct. 18.

Hernandez Passes Mulrooney on All-Time List

After playing 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, Oct. 18, Jason Hernandez passed former Earthquakes defender Richard Mulrooney to become third on the club's all-time games played list with 164. Hernandez passed Mulrooney by playing in the club's final home game at Buck Shaw Stadium Saturday, Oct. 18. Hernandez was also in the starting lineup for the Earthquakes first game at Buck Shaw Stadium on May 3, 2008.

San Jose Edges C.D.S. Vida in International Friendly

The Earthquakes defeated C.D.S. Vida 2-1 in the club's lone international friendly of 2014 on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Buck Shaw Stadium. San Jose would rally from a 1-0 deficit in the second half behind goals from Tommy Thompson and Khari Stephenson. Vida is based in La Ceiba, Honduras - hometown of Earthquakes center back and Honduran World Cup veteran Victor Bernardez. The three-year MLS veteran began his career with Vida in 2003. Vida are eighth in the Honduran first division through seven matches in the 2014-15 Apertura. Their club won the Honduran league in 1981, 1983 and finished second in 1984 and 1985.

Busch Tops Career-High for Saves

After a one save performance against Real Salt Lake, Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch topped his career-high in saves in a single season (132) with 135 through 33 games. Busch is poised to top the club record of 137 saves in a season, which was set by Joe Cannon in 2000. Busch's 135 saves so far are the most in a season since Nick Rimando's 146 in 2007.

Busch Among League Leaders

Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch is having another stellar season for San Jose. He leads the league with 135 saves and is fifth in saves percentage among goalkeepers with at least 10 starts at 72 percent.

Wondolowski Dangerous vs. Chivas USA

Chris Wondolowski has proven to have a nose for goal against Chivas USA after recording 10 career goals against The Goats, the most he's scored against any MLS club. Wondolowski began his scoring spree against Chivas USA in 2010 after notching four goals in two games. After tallying one goal in 2011 and 2012, respectively, Wondolowski scored four goals in three games against Chivas USA. The Danville native only appeared in one game against The Goats this season after helping San Jose to a 1-0 win on April 26 at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Mr. October

Chris Wondolowski continues to set the standard for MLS goal scorers in October after finding the net in a 2-1 loss against Portland on Oct. 4. Wondolowski is first on the MLS all-time list for goals in October with 19, seven more than the next-closest, Colorado's Edson Buddle.

Wondolowski Continues Hot Post-World Cup Pace

Chris Wondolowski is one of the hottest players in MLS since returning from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Since his homecoming after United States Men's National Team duty, Wondolowski has nine goals and four assists in 16 games. He has a goal or an assist in 10 of those 16 games.

Salinas Aims for Career Assist Mark

Shea Salinas will have one last opportunity to set a new career mark for assists in a season Sunday, Oct. 26 against Chivas USA. The seven-year MLS veteran has eight assists this season. He leads the Earthquakes in assists since 2012 with 23, including seven in 2012 and eight in 2013. Salinas is three assists away from surpassing Eric Wynalda on the club's all-time assists list.

Now Accepting Wells Fargo Goals for Education Grant Requests

The Earthquakes are now accepting grant applications from local youth sports organizations for the 2014 Wells Fargo Goals for Education program. Interested groups should complete the club's online application at 59b8f6142f544d5f460b801f1 www.sjearthquakes.com/goalsforeducation before Friday, Oct. 31. Since the beginning of the Earthquakes' 2011 season, Wells Fargo has donated $250 for each goal scored by the team. In three years, the program has raised $38,500 in addition to the over $8,000 guaranteed so far from the club's 2014 campaign. Grant applications are evaluated based on three key areas: overall impact of the grant, clarity of how the funds would be used and socioeconomic need. To be considered, the organization must also be from the Bay Area. Each grant recipient will be honored at a ceremony at the Earthquakes' new stadium prior to the start of the 2015 season.

#MilestoEpicenter Goes Global

Earthquakes fans around the world will soon be able to gauge their distance to the Epicenter of soccer after the club announced an expansion of its #MilestoEpicenter campaign. Billboards will be placed in a number of locations depicting the distance to San Jose's new stadium, including: multiple places around the Bay Area, New England, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Route 66, New York City, Miami and Las Vegas. The international boards include Mexico, Brazil, London, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and other locations around Europe.

Enter to Win #MilestoEpicenter

In addition to the billboard campaign, fans have a chance to win 2015 Earthquakes season tickets through the #MilestoEpicenter contest. To enter for a chance to win the grand prize of two 2015 Earthquakes season tickets, fans can either pick up a "Miles to the Epicenter" sign at the Quakes Front Office or download and print a paper one from the team's official website at sjearthquakes.com. Using the sign, fans can then write their distance from the Quakes New Stadium on the sign and take a photo of themselves with the sign. To enter the contest, fans have the option of emailing the photo to milestoepicenter@sjearthquakes.com or uploading the photo through the club website, sjearthquakes.com. All of the photos will then be displayed at sjearthquakes.com and the team's official Facebook page, facebook.com/sanjoseearthquakes. Fans can then share their submission with the hashtag #milestoepicenter and vote for their favorite photo. The photo that receives the most votes will win a pair of 2015 Earthquakes season tickets. The contest will run through the end of the 2014 MLS regular season on Sunday, Oct. 26.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

Earthquakes U-14 Academy

The Earthquakes U-14 Academy improved to 7-0-0 in the 2014-15 campaign with a 3-0 win over San Juan Soccer Club on Saturday, Oct. 18 at John Mise Park. Ricardo Ibarra, Felix Ramon and Jason Yanez each tallied a goal to keep San Jose undefeated this season. San Jose's next match is Sunday, Oct. 26 against Merced Atlas Soccer Academy at Golden Valley High School.

Earthquakes U-16 Academy

The Earthquakes U-16 Academy returned to action Saturday, Oct. 18 with a 3-1 win over San Juan Soccer Club at Mustang Soccer Complex. Kaya Fabbretti netted two goals for San Jose along with a 75th minute goal from Armon Ojuola. They are currently 4-1-1 and second in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference behind Vancouver Whitecaps FC. San Jose's next match is Saturday, Oct. 25 against the Portland Timbers at the Timbers Training Facility.

Earthquakes U-18 Academy

Results from Saturday's U-18 match against San Juan Soccer club were not immediately available.
