Knights Sign Riverside 3B

The Corvallis Knights have signed junior third baseman Michael Farris of UC Riverside for the 2015 season, president Dan Segel announced Friday.

He is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound transfer from Golden West College via Los Alamitos High School in Garden Grove, Calif. A right-handed hitter, Farris batted .340 (52-153) in 36 games in 2014, with two homers, 14 RBIs and a team-high 52 hits and a team-best 22 runs. He was a first-team Golden West Conference all-star as a utility player.

Farris is also a pitcher and went 3-1, 0.00 in eight games in 2014, with three saves and nine strikeouts in 12 innings. He was 2-1, 2.87 in 17 games in 2013, with 33 strikeouts in 31.1 innings.

Also, two Knights' alums on the San Francisco Giants have advanced to the World Series in their rookie seasons. Catcher Andrew Susac (2009) of Oregon State and infielder Matt Duffy (2010) of Long Beach State and the Giants will play the Kansas City Royals in the Series, which starts at Kansas City on Tuesday night.
