Fuel Announce Opening Night Roster, Captains
October 16, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliates of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Thursday the team's inaugural ECHL opening night roster and named Mike Duco the first captain in franchise history. The Fuel's first-ever roster features 21 players (listed below) and one reserve entry, forward Dean Chelios.
Six players on the Fuel's opening night roster (forward Jamie Wise, goaltender Mac Carruth and defensemen Kirill Gotovets, Mathieu Brisebois, Nick Jones and Justin Holl) are currently with the Fuel on loan from AHL clubs and three Fuel players (goaltender Sean Bonar, defenseman Ildar Telyakov and forward Patrick Cullen) earned ECHL contracts while participating in training camp on amateur and professional tryout agreements.
Duco, a veteran of 18 NHL games with the Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks in parts of three seasons from 2009 to 2012, is one of just two players on the Fuel's opening night roster with ECHL "veteran" status, alongside his lone assistant captain to start 2014-15, forward Garrett Klotz.
