 Colorado Rapids

Thomas Piermayr to Miss Final Two Matches of the Season

October 16, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release

Colorado Rapids defender Thomas Piermayr will miss the remaining two games of the season after sustaining a grade 2 medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain during last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Chivas USA.

The Austrian experienced pain in his left knee in the early stages of the match, and after evaluating him on the sideline, Head Athletic Trainer Jaime Rojas determined Piermayr was unable to continue.

An MRI scan has since shown the damage to be a sprained MCL, an injury which will require approximately six weeks for recovery.

With the diagnosis, Piermayr will miss Colorado's final two matches of the season. He appeared in 14 matches in his debut MLS season, starting all of them, for a total of 1146 minutes of action.

The Rapids will close their 2014 home season this Saturday against FC Dallas on Fan Appreciation Night presented by Ciao at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
