Olkinuora Assigned to Ontario

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, have announced that goaltender Jussi Olkinuora has been assigned to the club from the St. John's IceCaps by Winnipeg.

Olkinuora, 23, has started one game for the IceCaps this season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound netminder joins the Reign after appearing in 27 games for Ontario last year in his rookie season. The goaltender posted a 14-11-1 record and one shutout with a 3.01 goals-against average and .887 save percentage. The Helsinki, Finland native also appeared in nine games with St. John's.

In 2012-13, Olkinuora made his professional debut with the IceCaps, appearing in one game.

Prior to turning pro, Olkinuora spent two seasons from 2011-13 at the University of Denver where he compiled a 21-14-8 record, along with a 2.27 goals-against average and .926 save percentage plus five shutouts. He also spent a season in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede, sporting a 14-13-0 record, 2.78 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.

Olkinuora will join the rest of the Reign roster in Anchorage, Alaska, as the team opens its 2014-15 ECHL regular season schedule with three road games against the Alaska Aces this weekend. Olkinuora will wear number 31.

Reign Drops :

On Opening Night, the Reign will raise its fourth Pacific Division title banner before taking on the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. The Reign will also celebrate the LA Kings winning the Stanley Cup with Affiliate Night. Ontario players will wear specialty LA Kings-inspired jerseys, sponsored by the University of La Verne, which will be auctioned off immediately after the game to benefit the University's student scholarships. The first 5,000 fans to enter will receive an LA Kings Championship Team Photo and everyone in attendance will receive a season magnet schedule, compliments of Ignite Advertising.

The Reign are then back in action less than 24 hours later when they square off against the Bakersfield Condors on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. for Pink at the Rink Night. The first 5,000 fans will receive a pink mini-pennant, compliments of Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water. A few of the Reign players will also take the ice during warm-ups with special pink sticks that will be autographed and auctioned off during the game in a silent auction to benefit Susan G. Komen® Inland Empire. Tickets to both of these games, as well as individual tickets for the 2014-15 regular season, are on sale now.
