(POMONA, NY) - Continuing the success of the 2014 campaign, the Rockland Boulders were named the Can-Am League's "Organization of the Year" on Tuesday. It is the second time in three years that Rockland has been given the honor, also winning for the 2012 season.

The award, voted on by team managers and media department personnel, encompasses all areas of baseball operations including clubhouse, playing field, communication and professionalism.

"This is a culmination of a surreal season," said team President Ken Lehner. "I am not sure where to start with the acknowledgements because you do not get recognized by your peers for an award of this stature unless all areas and all individuals of the organization are running smoothly. From full-time employees, to part-time employees, to game-day staff, and interns, everyone had to execute in order for us to be in this position. Thanks to one and all."

Rockland won the 2014 Can-Am League Championship, their first in franchise history, while setting a team record in wins with 56. The Boulders also led the league in overall attendance for the third consecutive season, with 159,739 fans flocking to Provident Bank Park. An average of 3,129 fans came out each night during 2014, another league high. The support of the fans culminated on Saturday, August 16 as the all-time, individual game-record crowd of 6,329 watched the Boulders beat Quebec, 10-9, on a walk-off, two-run home run from Ryan Stovall. That mark surpassed the previous one-game record of 6,317 on June 16, 2011; the first ever Rockland Boulders home game.

The success was not just on the field, but off it as well. Three different players had their contracts purchased by Major League affiliations during the year. Infielder Steve Nyisztor was the first to reach affiliated ball, as his contract was purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks and helped the Single-A Hillsboro Hops win the Northwest League title. Pitcher Sean Bierman, after winning multiple Can-Am League awards, had his contract purchased by the Atlanta Braves and reached High A Lynchburg. Fellow hurler Joe Donino had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks at the end of the season.

Rockland's 2014 season was also highlighted by the continuing community efforts in the Lower Hudson Valley and Northern New Jersey. During their 46 game home schedule, the Boulders helped raise more than $80,000 for over 20 different organizations throughout the region, with countless more being given via Rockland's charitable arm, "Boulders Benefits". Since its inception in 2011, more than $275,000 has been donated to local charities through the Rockland Boulders efforts at Provident Bank Park.
