Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames and the Adirondack Flames of the AHL, announced on Monday that defenseman Curtis Gedig and goaltender Doug Carr have been assigned to the team by the Calgary Flames. Gedig, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound defenseman, spent the past four seasons at Ohio State University, where he would collect 51 points in 133 games, finishing his career with the Buckeyes with a combined plus/minus rating of a plus-11. Carr, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound netminder recently concluded a standout career at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, where he played in 86 games over four seasons, finishing with a cumulative goals-against average of 2.58 and a .915 save percentage.
"Doug and Curtis are both highly regarded within the Flames system and we are excited to have them in Colorado for their first year as professionals," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart.
Gedig made the jump to the NCAA level after spending two seasons in the BCHL with the Merritt Centennials, Cowichan Valley Capitals and Vernon Vipers. The Westbank, British Columbia native finished his time in the BCHL with 39 points in 99 games and helped capture a BCHL championship with the Vipers in 2010.
Carr won a Hockey East Championship during his time with UMass-Lowell in 2013, after being named a Hockey East All-Star with the River Hawks in 2012. The Hanover, Massachusetts native would go on to play in four games last season with the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL, where he would sport a 1.92 GAA, a .925 save percentage and register a shutout.
