The Lone Star Brahmas entered Saturday night with the chance to complete the sweep of the Corpus Christi Icerays after an overtime win on Friday night. It didn't take long for them to set the tone for the evening.
Sebastian Vidmar continued his torrid pace just 1:50 into the contest. Vidmar took a pass from Caleb Thompson while cruising across the goal mouth held the puck forcingAndrew Lindgren to drop then put it top shelf for his 6th goal in the last four games. Then at 15:41, Johan Steen extended the Brahmas lead to two with Thompson picking up his second assist on the night. With Quinn Carroll in the box for a roughing minor at the 17:02 mark, Hogan Davidson sprung Ludvig Larsson down the far boards. Larsson turned on the afterburners to chase down the loose puck and put it on a tee in the paint for Vidmar's second of the game.
Corpus Christi got one back with just over a minute left when a shot from the left wing circle by Connor Bucsis took a bad bounce, hopped over Jake Kupsky and rolled across the line. Wes Michaud and Joe Chitwood logged the assists.
The Icerays got a gift goal at 10:22 of the second when the puck went off a loose glove on the ice right into Ryan Cusin's wheelhouse and he put it past a screened Kupsky short side for the only scoring of the period.
Larsson used his speed once again to open the third when he and Eric Carreras went streaking into the offensive zone. Larsson drove deep then slid it across to Carreras late. Carreras' shot went off Lindgren's right shoulder and Larsson cleaned up the rebound. Oskar Andren had the secondary assist on the play. With just 3.6 seconds to go Liam Stirtzinger put a nail in the coffin off an AJ Vanderbeck pass.
Lone Star won the shots on goal battle as well 31 - 23 and both teams were 0 - 5 on the power play.
