TONIGHT:"¨ The defending Pacific Division champions Ontario Reign (0-1-0-0) face the Stockton Thunder (0-1-0-0) in their final tune-up of the 2014 preseason. Ontario dropped its preseason opener at home on Saturday night to the Bakersfield Condors by a 3-1 score, while Stockton also fell to the Condors by a score of 5-2 on Friday. Despite winning the 2013-14 regular season series (10-6-0-0), the Reign were swept by the Thunder in the first round of the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
SHOOT FIRST, ASK QUESTIONS LATER:"¨ Rocco Carzo tied for the team lead in shots on goal in Saturday's match against Bakersfield with five; he wound up scoring the only goal for Ontario, with a shorthanded marker at 3:45 of the second period. His shot totals were equaled by Judd Blackwater, another forward who is expected to contribute heavily to the Reign attack this season, and in fact represented Stockton at the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game in Ontario.
SIN BIN STORIES:"¨ The time the Reign were assessed in the penalty box on Saturday nearly doubled the time served by the Condors. 20 of the penalty minutes given to the Reign were the result of a game misconduct levied at Everett Sheen at the end of the first period. If the Reign are able to cut down on the penalties, that will lead to less time playing a man short.
ECHL-CHL CONSOLIDATION:"¨ With the absorption of seven Central Hockey League teams earlier this week, the ECHL can now say that it is the only "AA' level pro hockey league in North America. As a result of these changes, Ontario, Stockton, Alaska, Bakersfield, Colorado, Idaho and Utah form the new Pacific Division. Four teams from each division will qualify for the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs, so every game - including preseason - is critical to setting the tone for success.

The Reign open their 2014-15 regular season schedule at Alaska on Friday, Oct. 17 at 8:15 p.m.
Reign Drops :
On Opening Night, Ontario will raise its fourth Pacific Division title banner before taking on the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. The Reign will also celebrate the LA Kings winning the Stanley Cup with Affiliate Night. Ontario players will wear specialty LA Kings-inspired jerseys, sponsored by the University of La Verne, which will be auctioned off immediately after the game to benefit the University's student scholarships. The first 5,000 fans to enter will receive an LA Kings Championship Team Photo and everyone in attendance will receive a season magnet schedule, compliments of Ignite Advertising.
The Reign are then back in action less than 24 hours later when they square off against the Bakersfield Condors on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. for Pink at the Rink Night. The first 5,000 fans will receive a pink mini-pennant, compliments of Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water. A few of the Reign players will also take the ice during warm-ups with special pink sticks that will be autographed and auctioned off during the game in a silent auction to benefit Susan G. Komen® Inland Empire.
