Boston Breakers Kristie Mewis to Play for IGA FC Kunoichi

HANOVER, Ma - The Boston Breakers announced that midfielder Kristie Mewis will play for the Japanese club IGA FC Kunoichi in the 2014-2015 off season.

Mewis, 23, appeared in 17 matches,15 starts and tallied three goals with two assists during the 2014 NWSL season.

The Hanson Massachusetts native was acquired by the Breakers on Nov. 18, 2013 via trade with Seattle Reign FC that sent Sydney Leroux to Seattle. In 2012 with FC Kansas City, started all 20 games she appeared in scored one goal in 1,784 minutes. Mewis the No. 3 overall pick in the inaugural 2013 NWSL Draft.

Mewis will return to the Boston Breakers before the start of the 2015 NWSL season.
