FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 9, 2014) - The Florida State League honored the Fort Myers Miracle last month with the league's nomination for the Larry MacPhail Promotional Trophy, which is given for outstanding promotional work during the season.

One overall winner will be selected prior to this year's annual Baseball Winter Meetings in San Diego, Calif. for all of Minor League Baseball's 15 leagues. The nominees were selected by the league's Directors and General Managers.

The Larry MacPhail Award is bestowed to the team that demonstrates outstanding, creative marketing and promotional efforts within the community, the ballpark and through the media.

"These awards are the product of hard, teamwork from a championship staff," said Miracle General Manager Andrew Seymour. The Florida State League also announced that Seymour was named the Executive of the Year for 2014.

"I am so proud of Andrew for winning the FSL Executive of the Year and the Miracle staff for winning the MacPhail nomination," said SJS Beacon Baseball President Jason Hochberg. "Even though 2014 was an excellent year for promotions, I know that our 2015 season will be even better."

During the 2014 season, the Miracle unveiled a brand new outfield boardwalk at Hammond Stadium that allowed fans to enjoy each game from multiple angles. The boardwalk was the first of a two-phase renovation to Hammond Stadium and the CenturyLink Sports Complex.

Phase II began in August and the Miracle, with help from the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox and Lee County, moved to JetBlue Park for the final eight home dates and the Florida State League Playoffs. A unique opportunity, fans were able to watch the Miracle at the Spring Training home of the Red Sox. With excellent support from the community, the Miracle won all three FSL Playoff games at JetBlue Park en route to the first-ever league championship in team history.

On June 12, the Miracle welcomed Catherine Bach, the original Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard television show, to the ballpark. Bach signed autographs, chatted with fans and met the team to pose for pictures.

Known for zany promotions, the Miracle did not disappoint fans in Southwest Florida this season with three used car giveaways. Over three evenings at Hammond Stadium, the Miracle handed over the keys to a Cadillac Fleetwood, a Grand Prix and an Audi Wagon.

One of the most popular evenings during the 2014 campaign was Zombie Night. In honor of the Day of the Dead movie being filmed in downtown Fort Myers 30 years ago, all fans dressed as the living dead received free admission. The Miracle wore special zombie-themed jerseys that were auctioned off during the game with part of the proceeds going to charity.

In addition to the activity on the field and at the ballpark, the Miracle staff, Miss-A-Miracle and players visited schools, hospitals, camps and little leagues. The team marched in local parades and also worked on community projects such as Habitat for Humanity. In April, the Miracle hosted the ninth annual Special Needs Camp with Dave Clark Baseball. Children with special needs flocked to Hammond Stadium to receive personal instruction from the players and coaching staff.
