Road Warriors Add Five to Training Camp Roster

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the addition of five players to the team's Training Camp Roster.

The Wolf Pack have assigned winger Vinny Saponari to Greenville, while forwards Pat Mullane, Tyler Brown and defenseman Sean Escobedo have joined the Road Warriors following their release from Hartford's Training Camp. In addition, defenseman Andrew Secco has been signed to a tryout agreement.

Saponari, 24, signed an AHL contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack on September 9. He spent the majority of last season with the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) and registered 33 points (15g, 18a) in 58 games. The Powder Springs, Georgia native also tallied 11 points (1g, 10a) in 14 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) last season. Saponari made his pro debut during the 2 012-13 campaign when he skated in seven games for the St. John's IceCaps. Prior to turning pro, he played two seasons of NCAA Division I college hockey at both Northeastern University and Boston University. Saponari was drafted in the fourth round (#94 overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Mullane, 24, spent the majority of his first professional season with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs last year, where he notched 13 points (6g, 7a) in 46 games. He also skated 13 games with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) and earned four points (2g, 2a) in 13 contests. A native of Wallingford, Connecticut, Mullane played four seasons at Boston College (2009-2013), where he contributed to two National Championship titles and scored 140 points (42g, 98a) in 163 games.

Brown, 24, spent each of the last three seasons with the AHL's Adirondack Phantoms and produced 32 points (14g, 18a) with 72 penalty minutes in 182 games. He was initially signed to a three-year entry level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on March 2, 2011. Prior to turning pro, the Wasaga Beach, Ontario native played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Plymouth Whalers. In 220 games, he amassed 123 points (48g, 75a) from 2007-2011.

Escobedo, 23, spent last season with the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) and tallied15 points (6g, 9a) in 57 games. He also made one appearance on a call-up to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL). Prior to turning pro, Escobedo played four seasons at Boston University (2009-2013), where he never missed a game and produced 33 points (6g, 27a) in 154 contests. The Bayside, New York native also spent two seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Tri-City Storm and Sioux Falls Stampede. He is a former first round draft pick (#3 overall) of Tri-City in the 2008 USHL Entry Draft.

Secco, 24, is looking to make his North American professional debut after spending each of the past two seasons in Europe. In 30 games for Bergen (Norway 2) during the 2013-14 season, Secco registered 45 points (19g, 26a) and 45 penalty minutes. The Ilderton, Ontario native also produced 25 points (9g, 16a) and 36 penalty minutes for Arvika HC (Division 2) in 2012-13.

Training Camp continues on Friday with one on-ice session from 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Official Practice Facility of the Road Warriors, The Pavilion in Taylors, South Carolina. All Training Camp practice sessions are open to the public and free of charge. In addition, players and coaches will be available to the media following each practice.
