Own a Piece of Cardinals History with the Infield Sod Sale

October 8, 2014 - Texas League (TL1)
Springfield Cardinals News Release

Springfield, MO - After winning their sixth Texas League Field of the Year Award, and fourth in a row, the Springfield Cardinals are excited to announce that they are re-sodding the infield and outfield at Hammons Field.

As part of the re-sodding, fans have the special opportunity to purchase a strip of sod from the award-winning infield for only $5.

A unique piece of Springfield Cardinals history, the current infield sod has literally been the foundation throughout the past three great years at Hammons Field, including the 2012 Texas League Championship Season. During that time, the field has been played on by St. Louis Cardinals stars like Michael Wacha, Carlos Martinez, Trevor Rosenthal, Oscar Taveras, Kolten Wong, Marco Gonzales, Seth Maness and many more.

The infield was also one of the last fields ever taken by Cardinals Legend, Chris Carpenter, who made a Rehab Start in Springfield on July 15, 2013. Other rehabbing Cardinals who have played on the available sod include Yadier Molina, Matt Adams, Matt Carpenter, Jaime Garcia and more.

The infield sod, freshly stripped off the field, is a Low-Mow Bluegrass from Colorado. The strips are roughly 4-5 feet long, but do vary in size. The strips will be available for pick-up at the Hammons Field Front Office.

For more information, or to order your strip of sod right now, call the Front Office at (417) 863-0395. There is a limited amount of sod available, so be sure to order your piece of Cardinals history today!
