Winterhawks Fall 6-2 in Victoria Monday

The Portland Winterhawks dropped a 6-2 decision in Victoria Monday against the Royals.
Victoria opened the scoring midway through the first on a goal by Regan Nagy during four-on-four play at the 9:38 mark, then made it 2-0 on a goal by Matthew Campese at 14:07, a lead they took into the second.
The Royals made it 3-0 when Austin Carroll scored a power play goal 2:43 into the second, then at the 13:48 mark Joe Hicketts scored to give Victoria a 4-0 advantage. The Royals added one more in the final minute of the period on a goal by Mitch Skapski as they took a 5-0 lead into the third.
The Winterhawks got on the board early in the third when Oliver Bjorkstrand scored 2:46 into the frame, followed just 52 seconds later by Anton Cederholm scoring and cutting Victoria's lead to 5-2.
Victoria's Jack Walker scored a power play goal at the 13:11 mark to go up 6-2, which stood as the final.
Nic Petan made his first appearance of the season for Portland after seeing training camp and preseason action with the NHL's Winnipeg Jets.
The Hawks will be back in action Friday when they travel to Everett to take on the Silvertips.
