Blazers Finish Road Trip with 6-2 Win

The Kamloops Blazers (5-2-1-0) finished off a stretch of three games in three nights with a 6-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings (3-3-0-0).

The first period saw goaltender Cole Kehler make a strong performance. The Blazers were hemmed in their own zone for stretchs during the period, but Kehler was terrific stopping all 11 shots he faced.

The Blazers struck the scoreboard first for the sixth time in eight games this season. Brady Gaudet fired a shot towards the goal that bounce in front to Cole Ully as he scored his fifth goal of the season.

The Oil Kings tied the game up 48 seconds into the second period. Ryan Rehill cleared a rebound onto the stick of Lane Bauer as he potted his second goal of the season.

Cole Ully scored his second goal of the game in similar fashion as he banged home a rebound off a shot from defenseman Michael Fora to make it 2-1 Blazers.

The Blazers then got fire midway through the period scoring three goals in a matter of four minutes. Matt Revel converted a nice passing play, then potted a goal on the power play. Michael Fora scored his first WHL goal on the power play to give the Blazers a 5-1 lead.

Nick Chyzowski rounded out the scoring in the third period as his long shot went off the post and in and the Blazers took a 6-1 lead into the final period.

The Oil Kings were given five straight power plays in the third period, and scored once in the period.

The Blazers hung on for a 6-2 win over the defending Memorial Cup Champions. The Blazers finished their Alberta road trip with a 2-1-0-0 record.

The Blazers were 2-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The hockey club now gets the week to prepare for two home games as they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night and the Everett Silvertips on Saturday.
