Chicago Fire Challenge Sporting Kansas City Under Friday Night Lights

The Chicago Fire (5-8-18, 33 points) hit the road to challenge Sporting Kansas City (13-11-7, 46 points) at Sporting Park on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. CT (My50/La Ley 107.9 FM).

This is the third and final match between the two sides this season. On May 18 the Fire defeated Sporting Kansas City 2-1 at Toyota Park courtesy of a Mike Magee penalty kick brace. Magee scored the equalizer in a 1-1 road draw at Sporting Park on July 6.

Sporting Kansas City enter the match after battling D.C. United to a 0-0 draw at RFK Stadium on Oct. 3.

CHICAGO FIRE at SPORTING KANSAS CITY

- The Fire hold a 25-12-11 all-time regular season record against Sporting Kansas City and a 8-8-9 record in matches played on the road.

- The final stop of Fire Technical Director Brian Bliss' playing career was Kansas City, where he played his final season for the Wizards in 1998. In 2000, Bliss was appointed assistant coach for the Wizards. In six seasons in Kansas City, the Wizards won the 2000 MLS Supporters' Shield, 2000 MLS Cup and the 2004 U.S. Open Cup.

- Left back Gonzalo Segares will miss the match due to yellow card accumulation.

CHICAGO FIRE TO CELEBRATE 17TH ANNIVERSARY AT TOYOTA PARK ON OCT. 8

The Chicago Fire and Section 8 Chicago will celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Club's founding on Wednesday, Oct. 8 when supporters are invited to join Fire players, coaches and staff at the Toyota Park Stadium Club from 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. CT. Entrance is free to all supporters with a suggested $10 donation to the Chicago Fire Foundation. Section 8 Chicago will hold its October board meeting from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. with food, beverages and the program featuring classic Fire matches, prize raffle and stadium tours beginning afterwards.

ROBERT EARNSHAW STOPPAGE TIME EQUALIZER NOMINATE FOR MLS GOAL OF THE WEEK

Fire forward Robert Earnshaw's dramatic 92nd minute equalizer against the Philadelphia Union on Oct. 2 is up for MLS Goal of the Week.

Voting runs until 1:59 a.m. CT on Friday.

TICKETS FOR 2014 CONCACAF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP IN CHICAGO NOW ON SALE

Tickets for the first-round games of the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship at Toyota Park on Oct. 17-18 are now on sale via Ticketmaster or at the Toyota Park Box Office.

Toyota Park hosts the four sides from Group A (USA, Trinidad & Tobago, Guatemala and Haiti) on Oct. 17 and the four teams from Group B (Costa Rica, Mexico, Jamaica and Martinique) on Oct. 18. The United States face Guatemala at 8 p.m. CT at Toyota Park on Oct. 17.

The tournament format will see the top two teams in each group advance to Philadelphia for the semifinals on Oct. 24, when the winner of each group will face the runner-up of the opposite group. The third-place and championship games will be held on Oct. 26.

The top three finishers - the semifinal winners and the winner of the third-place match -- will qualify directly for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup June 6-July 5 in Canada, while the fourth-place team enters a playoff with a team from South America for the final World Cup slot.
