Manchester Monarchs News Release
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have signed right wing Justin Auger and defenseman Zachary Leslie to three-year entry-level contacts, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Both players were assigned to the Monarchs on September 26 after participating in Kings Training Camp.
Auger was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth round (103rd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-7, 227-pounder from Kitchener, Ontario has played for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League since the 2011-12 season. Last year, he recorded 23 points (11-1223) and a career-high 61 penalty minutes in 53 games with the Storm.
Leslie was originally selected by the Kings in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. The 6-foot, 183-pounder from Ottawa, Ontario has played for Guelph since 2011-12. Last season, he had a career year with the Storm, posting career-highs in goals, assists and points (14-3650). Among team defensemen, he tied for first in goals, second in points and assists, and third in plus-minus (plus-40).
Both Auger and Leslie helped lead the Storm to the OHL Championship last season. They reached the Memorial Cup Final, before falling in the championship game to the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Los Angeles also assigned goaltender Jean-Francois Berube and center Jordan Weal to Manchester, and placed defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk on injured reserve.
The Kings have 25 active players remaining on their 2014 Training Camp roster.
