Chicago Wolves News Release

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. --- The Chicago Wolves closed out their exhibition slate on a high note with a 3-2 overtime win Saturday night against the Milwaukee Admirals at West Meadows Ice Arena.

Orland Park native Mike Embach sent the local crowd home happy 2:55 into the extra session as he slid the game-winner past Milwaukee goaltender Marek Mazanec, sealing the win and pushing Chicago to a 3-1-0-0 preseason record.

The Wolves took a 2-0 lead to open the game, tallying a pair of goals late in the first period. Left wing John McCarthy accepted a saucer pass from forward Gergo Nagy in the slot and beat Mazanec top-shelf for the first score of the game.

Right wing Sebastian Wannstrom gave Chicago a two-goal cushion with 25 seconds remaining in the opening frame, going top-shelf glove-side past Mazanec. Milwaukee forward Miikka Salomaki and defenseman Garrett Noonan tallied power-play goals in the second and third period, respectively, to force overtime.

Wolves netminder Niklas Lundstrom stopped 27 of 29 shots to earn the win. Mazanec kicked out 21 for the loss.

The Wolves host their 21st season opener on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Allstate Arena against the Charlotte Checkers. There are still tickets available for the opener by visiting ChicagoWolves.com or calling 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
