Generals Win Another on Home Ice

October 3, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

Tonight, the Oshawa Generals took on the Ottawa 67's in a 7:35 p.m. matchup at the General Motors Centre. The Generals pulled off their third consecutive win of the season.

The night started off with this year's team being introduced to all of the fans in attendance. Following these introductions, our Eastern Division banner from the 2013-14 season was raised. This is the first time in 23 years that the Generals have secured the Eastern Division title, marking a very special moment for the team.

Josh Sterk opened the scoring for the Generals this evening during the first period, assisted by Latour and Vande Sompel. Despite a lot of back and forth play, both teams lacked control of the puck through the majority of the game.

The second goal of the game was scored by Bradley Latour, who put up his second point of the night. The goal was assisted by Hunter Smith.

The Ottawa 67's had only played one regular season game prior to tonight's game and Ben Fanjoy has been their only scorer this season. Their scoring remained stagnant tonight as they couldn't find the back of the net despite several power play opportunities.

With only two minutes to go, the 67's pulled goalie Liam Herbst in an attempt to even the score. However, Bradley Latour found the back of the empty net, earning his second goal of the night and third point of the game. Appleby had a stellar performance tonight, saving 31 shots made by the 67's and marking his second consecutive shutout of the season. Final shots on goal were 31-28 for the 67's. First star went to Appleby, second star was awarded to Sterk, and third star went to Latour. Great game Generals!

Don't miss this Sunday's game when the Generals take on the Kitchener Rangers at 6:05 p.m. Prior to the game, bring the whole family out to the Family Fun Fair, presented by Dufferin Concrete in support of Grandview Kids. There will be plenty of great activities including inflatables, games, face painting, and a visit from Bubba the clown, and Generals mascot, Deke. Dufferin Concrete will also be bringing along one of their concrete trucks and you'll have the chance to throw tennis balls into the truck for the chance to win some fantastic prizes including TVs, and a foursome at Deer Creek (to name a few). This event will kick off Grandview Kids Week, all in support of Grandview Kids. To purchase tickets for the game, visit the GM Centre Box Office or call 1-877-436-8811.
